Race, Gender, Age, and Ideas

I’ve been struck by the way in which the news has continously analyzed the current primaries. Virtually every story on the race between Obama and Clinton has broken down the voters along the lines of race, gender, and/or age. “Obama got X percent of black voters, while Clinton garnered X percent of the women vote.” “Young white males … blah, blah, blah.” Interestingly, every story on the race between McCain, Romney, and Huckabee has broken down the voters along the line of ideology. “Evangelicals have come out for Huckabee, while McCain has appealed to the more moderate and liberal voters.” Very interesting and revealing.
